Start with four working groups
Group protection, process consumables, maintenance products and cleaning supplies. Protection may include gloves and eyewear; process items may include abrasives, wire and tips. Maintenance products depend on your equipment. Keep the list based on the actual workshop rather than copying every item from a catalogue.
Record the reference and pack size
For each item, keep the approved product code or specification, normal pack size and the location where it is stored. Record approximate usage over a representative period. This makes a replacement order more consistent and helps identify items that are being purchased repeatedly in small quantities.
Choose a reorder point around real lead time
Consider how much you use between ordering and receiving stock, plus a sensible allowance for changing workload. A reorder point is a purchasing aid, not a guarantee that stock will be available. Review it after busy periods or a change in products. Share the recurring list with Sam to discuss supply frequency.
